Homework “The great Gatsby”

Mario Astudillo

Summary

This movie was interesting, that happen in New York, the places was incredible.  Nick Carraway a graduate of Yale University and a veteran of World War I , is a depressant and disillusioned alcoholic who is in a hospital to treat his alcoholism . He talks about a man named Gatsby describing it as the most optimistic man I ever met . When he realizes he does not want to talk more about it , the doctor suggests that you write something in a journal that comfort , because for Nick writing caused this effect. In the summer of 1922 , Nick moves from the Midwest of the United States to New York , where he takes a job from bond salesman . Nick rents a small house in Long Island in the fictional town of West Egg , being amazing neighbor Jay Gatsby 's mansion , a mysterious business tycoon who gave extravagant parties. Nick drove to the other side of the bay for lunch at the house of his cousin Daisy and her husband, Tom Buchanan , a fellow of the University. They do meet Jordan Baker , a young , attractive and Daisy cynical golfer who is to partner with Nick .
More in the summer , Nick receives an invitation to one of Gatsby's parties . Arriving at the party, she realizes that none of the guests personally know Gatsby and that they have different theories about who he is. Nick runs into Jordan and they know Gatsby, who is surprisingly young and somewhat distant in person. Gatsby starts to have some sympathy for Nick and they start to become friends. That friendship develops after Gatsby invites Nick to lunch with his mysterious friend Wolfshiem Meyer . Through Jordan , Nick learns that Gatsby knew Daisy from his romantic encounter and that he's still in love with her . Gatsby spends every night staring at a green light at the end of the pier in front of his mansion, hoping one day regain his lost love . Gatsby wants Nick hold a meeting between him and Daisy. Nick invites her to tea at his house, without telling her that Gatsby will also be there. After this surprise reunion, Gatsby and Daisy are reunited and begin an affair between them. In a short period of time, Daisy and Tom attend one of Gatsby's parties, where Tom becomes suspicious about his wife and his relationship with Gatsby.
When Nick, Jordan and Tom are heading to the valley of the ashes, they discover that Gatsby's car has struck and killed Myrtle, Tom's mistress. They return, where Nick learns that Gatsby Daisy, trying to calm his nerves, took the wheel of Gatsby and that she was driving at the time of the accident. However, Gatsby tries to blame himself for the accident. Despite the events at the Plaza Hotel, Gatsby Daisy convinces that the next day they call. That night, Gatsby reveals to Nick that his real name is James Gatz. Gatsby accused media of the death of his mistress, Myrtle, leaving only Nick knows the truth. Back at the hospital, Nick ends his memoirs and titled The Great Gatsby.

Analyze 3 characters:

-Jay Gatsby:  Its original name is James Gatz, but changed the name to Jay Gatsby because it sounded better and more important. He was a soldier in the war and was very honored, and very millionaire, to large parties to find the love of his life.
- Daisy Buchanan:  She faces many problems in this film. She is married to Tom Buchanan. He was and is in love with Gatsby, but got tired of waiting and married Tom. She collides Tom's mistress, Myrtle Wilson, while driving Gatsby's car.
-Tom Buchanan:  Married to Daisy, a childhood friend Nick. He hates Gatsby because this is stealing from Daisy. He has a mistress, with whom he meets often. It is a very famous polo player. Her family is very millionaire.

Personal Opinion

It is an interesting film, I believe that love that Gatsby and Daisy had, it was real. They were very patient and target were found. It makes Gatsby ineteresante as large parties to attract your love!. Does not give surrendered. And the teaching that leaves me is that despite any problems. Love conquers everything.
