The Person I Admire the Most (David Salgado)

The person that I admire the most is John Lennon. John Lennon was an English musician born in October 9, 1940 in Liverpool, England and he was killed by David Chapman on December 8, 1980 in New York, United States. He was a key member of the famous rock band The Beatles and I admire him not only for his music, but also for his incredible way of thinking and seeing the world. He was one of the most influential people in the history. His message of peace, love and happiness will forever be remembered. John Lennon fought every day to change all those negative values the society has adopted. He reflected all of his thoughts in the lyrics of his songs. One of his most famous songs “Imagine” has a deep message of peace:
“Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people living life in peace

You, you may say
I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one”

This song encourage us to form a world where there are no religious, political or geographical barriers between us, because when we achieve these we will find peace. Also, apart from his songs and his great musical career I see him as a philosopher that tries to show us what is the real meaning of life. He said once:
“When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life.”
If we stop to think about this, it’s true. The real meaning of life is to be happy and everything we propose ourselves is just a way to achieve it, but every step we take in life leads to that. John Lennon had a strong message about the life and every people should be aware of this. He was a great person that teaches us about peace, love and happiness and I think that despite of his great musical career, he was also famous for his thoughts. He wasn’t scared at all to change the world and this is something to behold.
