The person I admire is..... (Jazmín Aguagallo)

I admire Joan Manuel Serrat because he has an uncommon emotional intelligence.

He is a Spanish musician in all the meaning of the word; singer, writer... His songs have as cornerstone a lot of poems of famous authors including Mario Benedetti, Federico Garcia Lorca, Antonio Machado, etc.

Joan Manuel Serrat began to compose when he was only 17 with his first guitar interpreting "La guitarra" one of his first songs, in this highschool time, he interpreted songs of Beatles too. When he reaches to sing in an radio station began his career.

Serrat was involved in big political problems because of the lyrics of his songs that talk about the government, people and repression; his works were burned in the Spain streets.

But the problems continued, the government of Franco exiled Serrat to Mexico, he only can returned home when Franco died.

With the pass of the time Serrat became one of the most important representatives of the music called "Modern Trova".

He awarded a medal for his contribution to Spanish Culture hence, Latinoamerica has paid tribute to him in important shows.

On 2004, Serrat revealed he had cancer of the urinary bladder, fortunately his recovery was satisfactory.

Joan Manuel Serrat can mix own ideas and little parts of poems to compose a wonderful song, this kind of artists are called "trovadores". The "Trovadores" born in the Medieval Age, they were poor people that didn´t have an specific place to live, they walk and walk for different cities and empires where sang the achievements in the wars talking about heroes, may be for this reason, this group of musicians can produce different emotions, you can cry, you can smile, you can felt happiness or sadness, you may feel identified with that lyrics.

All the artists have a big sensitive and Joan Manuel Serrat isn´t the exception, when he sing your heart beats so hard, your mind imagine fantastic situations and you remain specific moments in you life, spaces, people that relates to the lyrics of the song, I think that he can reach to the soul of the people because sing with passion, with love, feeling each word that say.

My favorite song written by Serrat is “Caminate” because it´s a poem of Antonio Machado that talks about the life and the different ways and  the decisions that we need to take in some moment.

Undoubtedly Joan Manuel Serrat has an emotional intelligence and sensitive, his songs are incomparable.
